Redcar
Thousands of people joined us on Redcar Beach to mark 100 years since Armistice and the end of the first world war.
We produced the event on behalf of Sunderland Culture and 1418 NOW, working with local artists Stuart Langley and Diane Watson to create a huge sand portrait of Private Theophillus Jones, a local man who died in the war.
The project was devised by Danny Boyle and saw communities gather across 32 beaches to say goodbye and thank you to the people who left their shores.
