Nightfall Light Festival 2021 Disabled Artist Commission Opportunity!
We are looking for a disabled artist or disabled-led creative company/collective to design and create an artworks for the Nightfall Light Trail. Nightfall is a magical family-friendly outdoor event which will take place at Stewart Park in Middlesbrough from Thursday 2nd – Sunday 5th December. It is a self-guided trail of light-based artworks complemented by music, storytelling and performance.
The commission is to create one artwork and may include different artforms such as light, visual arts, audio, video projection etc. The feature will be developed in response to the Nightfall theme, A Stellar Rainbow.
Stellar Projects use an inclusive definition of disability which is based on the Social Model, focusing on the disabling barriers imposed by society, embracing all physical, sensory and invisible impairments, learning disability, mental health, neurodivergent and fatigue conditions. Commission fee: £4,000 to create one artwork, including materials (additional budget is available for travel, accommodation and access costs).
